Little Man is doing well. Four weeks in the DOC Band and nice progress!
I don't have numbers yet, but I hope his Cephalic Index is much lower. I want Cranial Technologies to do another Photostudy so Dude and I can discuss the possibility (or probability, I believe) of a second band. I want Little Man to be as close to normal as possible.
It definitely looks so much rounder which is great!
ReplyDeletewe are debating a band from cranial tech. how has your little man adjusted to it, does he seem to be comfortable? did it pose any developemnt probs so far, liek rolling over or sitting? Any new pics. our son is just 4 mo's and our Pedi has mixed feelings about the doc bands. any feedback you have about your journey I would love to hear. we just can't decide what our next step is. he is PT now, and I am not seeing much improvement.
ReplyDeleteKohlo, if you look at my post "Getting DOC Band #2" ( http://momofoneanddone.wordpress.com/2010/02/09/getting-doc-band-2/ ) you can see the most recent photostudy, taken on 2.4.10. The improvement was AMAZING. This is the best thing I could have done for my son.
ReplyDeleteHe actually began rolling much easier as his head rounded out and as he got stronger with physical therapy for his Torticollis. He is now 6 months old and is sitting unassisted.
Most pediatricians don't seem to think a helmet is necessary. They feel it's either strictly cosmetic or that the baby's head will "round out" on its own. Through my research, that doesn't happen too often—especially with babies who have Brachycephaly.
I can't really say what's best for you and your son, but I don't regret doing this for a second. The DOC Band is a great product. You can probably also ask more questions on the Yahoo support group here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Plagiocephaly/
Good luck!
